Parent-Proof notes for Catherine Mertz
Catherine was listed fifth among his daughters in her father’s will. Meiser listed a Mary Catherine second born abt 1797 and said she married first Mr. Brown and second William Heimbach. He also listed Catherine sixth among the daughters and said she married Mr. Garmin.
Jack Mertz listed Catherine second and said she married first Mr. Brown and second William Heimbach.
I refer to my discussion of daughter Polly. I believe it was Polly who married first Henry Brown and second Henry Heimbach.
However there was a William Heimbach listed in the 1850 Census with wife Catherine born about 1797. This could well be daughter Catherine in which case it is another clue that Peter may not have listed his daughters chronologically.
Whether a Mr. Garmin came into the picture later, I don't know, however, in 1880, living in the household of John H Mertz who was Catherine’s cousin, was Catharine Garman age 69 -- no stated relationship.

From Census, the Heimbach children were born starting in about 1825. They were Samuel b.1825, Mary b.1829, John b.1830, Daniel b.1832 and Charles b.1835. This is the same list Meiser attributes to Mary Catherine.
