Research notes for Catherine Mertz
Meiser says her husband was Henry Anhinger, Fisher says Catherine married Bowersox. A Catherine Mertz wife of Jesse Cherry lived in Pickaway County, Ohio when Abraham Mertz was the only other Mertz there. Could it be this Catherine? The discrepant note is that Jesse Cherry came from Shamokin Township.

And new DNA information suggests that Catherine, wife of Jesse Cherry, may have been the daughter of Ncholas’ brother, Peter.
Research notes for Henry (Spouse 1)
Mary Lou Clegg wanted to be sure that Catherine was not the Catherine who married Jesse Cherry. Since he was of Shamokin Township, it never made sense, on the other hand she and Jesse ended up in Pickway County where Abraham went so it seemed like it had to be ruled out.

“I believe that our Henry Aughinger is Henry Eichinger.  This is what I found about him.

1800 census Penn Twp., Northumberland Co., PA Henry Eigener
1810 census Swinefords Twp., Northumberland Co., PA  Henry Eichinger painter

Letters of Administration, Northumberland Co., PA
7/28/1812 Henry Eichinger, Center Twp., letters granted to Isaac Mertz.  Sureties:  Geo Aurand, Leon Smith

Abstracts of Orphans Court records
Mar 1813 Henry Eichinger, Center Twp.  Children:  Catherine, John, Mary, Peggy all minors.

This isn't my Catherine.  Unless she was married to Henry and Jesse was married to someone else and had children and then he married Catherine after Henry's death.  But I doubt it.”

I believe that too.
