I read somewhere that supposedly a Mary Mertz married Andrew Stahlnecker. I believe Andrew is on find-a-grave, buried in Middleburg, with wife Mary linked to him. My guess is that Mary was aka Polly , a minor child of Nicholas’, known from the OrphansCourt filings after his death. The birth date of 1792 given for her is not inconsistent with what I know about Polly from the Orphans Court filings.

Another hint of this relationship is a newspaper article I found in the 22 Dec 1898 Middleburg Post. Someone had reported the inscription found on Nicholas’ gravestone and the newspaper reported the deaths and then added: “the deceased is the great-grandfather of John, Aaron and David Stahlnecker of this place”.

I’ve not done the research that would connect those three men to Andrew Stahlnecker as their grandfather but I bet it could be shown.
