We know Isaac as the son of Israel from his presence in his father’s household n 1850 and 1860. He is designated P5a3b.

1870. Isaac Mertz 28 lived in Turbot Township with wife Kate 23 and daughters Lillie J 3 and Annie L 8 months.

1880. IWhere is Isaac? He lived to 1921. He was in McVeytown by 1900.

But I cannot find any trace of him or most of his family in 1880; only daughter Lilie Jane who lived with her Gemberling grandparents is to be found.

Isaac is on find-a-grave, buried at McVeytown win the same cemetery as two of his brothers.

Sue Renkert wrote the Snyder County Mertz Surname Board requesting information which I sent her on the family of Isaac and Kate. She cites the obituary of Mary Ellen or Mary Emma Parker b.1 Sep 1875 d.22 Mar 1952 w/o Hiram native of Shamokin Dam d/o Isaac and Katherine Gemberling Mertz. A separate obit of Lillie Jane Brilhart (formerly Waltman) b.25 Oct 1867 d.19 Jun 1955 d/o Isaac and Katherine Mertz. Lillie was the wife of Charles Waltman and William Brilhart. A third sister was Ella Cooper.

There is an Ancestry World Tree that shows Samuel Gemberling born 1816 married Ann Laudenslager and the list of their children includes daughter Catherine born 1845.

It is verified by her father’s obituary in the Middleburgh Post which lists Catharine married to Isaac Mertz of Milton as Samuel’s daughter.
