His obituary in the Sunbury Daily Item of 6 Feb 1946 said he was the son of Emanuel and Olive Ann (Newberry) Bird, that he married Calrinda “Rennie” Mertz in 1904 and that he was survived by his wife and two children: Mrs. Robert Hrris and Paul Bird both of Philadelphia. Also suviving: a sister Mrs. Frank Hassinger and four borhters: Charles Bird, Newberry Frank Bird, Levi Bird and William Bird.
