Parent-Proof notes for 4G GM Elisabeth Cramer
The 1783 will of Matthias Krammer names his daughter Elizabeth intermarried with George Young. It is clear from the wording that none of his sons were yet 21 nor any of his other daughters yet 18. So could this possibly be the Anna Elizabeth Young buried in Nothumberland County whose tombstone says born 1766?
My Comments notes for George (Spouse 1)
The “Early Germans” book says John C Young was born 5 July 1789 to his parents George Young of Round Valley and Elisabeth Cramer (d/o Matthias). That birth date matches exactly John’s tombstone birth date — which I’m sure was not the source for the “Early Germans” book, meaning I suspect the source was an actual church record.

Indeed, I have found a citation of that birth record from the Zion Lutheran Church of Long Valley, formerly German Valley, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Long Valley (aka German Valley) is part of Morris County today, but Morris was formed from Hunterdon in 1739. I think Round Valley and Long (aka German) Valley refer to different places but they are not far apart and it might well be that in the 1780’s, a resident of Round Valley traveled to nearby Long Valley to attend church. So I give the “Early Germans” book some degree of credibility even though it doesn’t cite specific sources for any of its statements.

This book also lists six other children or George and Elisabeth, all, like John, with exact birth dates: Mary 1780, Lanee 1782, Peter G 1785, Catherine 1787, Elisabeth 1789 and George C 1794. There is some confusion at least between Mary (who the book says married George Coleman) and Lanee (who the book says married Joseph Chamberlin and went to PA). It was Mary who married Joseph Chamberlain. The book notes that John C married Mary (her name was Margaret) Philips and they also went to PA.

I am convinced that, indeed, John C and and the Chamberlains went to the Paxinos, Shamokin and Ralpho Township area of Northumberland County and I believe that George and Elisabeth also came there too. I think I have found George there in the 1820 Census and I believe that the George and Ann Elisabeth Young buried at the Blue Church in Paxinos are this couple.

Now I can’t be sure of that as there is no real carry-through other than that Joseph and Mary (Young) Chamberlain are also buried in Paxinos, albeit at a different cemetery.

Another problem is that the “Early Germans” book says George was born in 1755 (?) and died in March 1824. And it says Elisabeth died in 1794. There is no resemblance of those dates to the dates for George and Ann Elisabeth at Blue Church, though, at the same time, the Blue Church dates are not inconsistent wit what I know about this couple.

Another issue may be that find-a-grave calls the cemetery where they are buried St Peter’s Reformed Cemetery which would seem an unlikely place for a couple who baptized son John C in a Lutheran church. But I’m not sure it was only Reformed, so to me that is not a deal breaker.

Another interesting point is there is a Salome (Young) Stambach, born 1786, also buried in the same cemetery with her husband Philip and some Ancestry trees says she was the daughter of George and Elisabeth. The problem is that is she was not listed by the “Early Germans” book — but that may or may not rule it out. But I am totally unable to figure out how it is even known she was maiden name Young, let alone who her parents were.

Finally, I have no direct evidence of the name of his father but the “Early Germans” book says his father was George who came from Germany and settled very early in the Round Valley.
