J L Floyd (about 1910) said John A Hlibish, a resident of the Borough of Northumberland, recently retired from farming, “is one of the leading spirits in the promotion of the development of his town and section and recognized as one of the most progressive citizens of his communiy”.

He says he was born 7 Aug 1851 in Washington Township and was the son of Daniel P Hilibish, grandson of Peter Hilbish and great-grandson of Peter Hilbish. Typical of Floyd, everything he writes about this person is accurate until he attempts to recount his out-of-county ancestry. John A was indeed the son of Daniel P and he was the son of Peter. That is the Peter who died in Freeburg in 1834 and it is his ancestry that Floyd gets wrong. Peter was actually the son of Adam.
