Nehemiah Scott was born before 1722 and died before 11 Aug 1801 in Sampson County. He was a successful farmer and a substantial landowner. Dicey’s name is associated with his on several land records, most importantly on 15 Aug 1797 Nehemiah records a deed of gift to daughter Disa (also spelled Dica). Dicey had not yet married. He gives her “20 pounds in money two beds and furniture and my Negro Ben and Nelly with her increase and second choice of my horses bridles and saddles.” From Sampson County estate records we know that Nehemiah died not long before 11 Aug 1801 so in 1797 by this and another gift to son Nehemiah and other children, he was already disposing of his property. Nehemiah’s wife was Elizabeth possibly Atkinson. Nehemiah was the son of Joseph.
