She died 5 Apr 1879. LOA were granted 8 Apr 1879 to Dr. John Y Shindel.

Frederick Mertz is known from Census listings and his tombstone (in Middleburg). He was born in 1819. I am certain he was a grandson of 1748 Nicholas but who his father was is less clear. I have placed him as son of Samuel since Samuel stayed in Middleburg and from Census had unaccounted for sons of the right age to be Frederick. Frederick's name appears often in Snyder County Wills books as he was Register of Wills for a number of years.

He is designated P5d1.

Frederick and his wife died at a young age as did their son Luther, an unnamed infant son and daughter Emma Johanna who died as an infant. Luther also buried an unnamed infant daughter and a second daughter Josephine who died at age 2.
