Research notes for Daniel B Martz
His death record is present on LDS film # 961101 with dod as shown and age 40y 4m. He is Daniel B and I have sort of guessed this is him because of similar dob, dod but no known middle initial.
My Comments notes for Daniel B Martz
The 1906 photo mentioned elsehwere, in which Arthur appears to be a teenager perhaps led me to believe I could find this family in 1900 Census and I did. Sophrona the widow is living in Sunbury. I looked for them in 1880 and could not find them although Daniel Martz and wife Alvaretta live in Shamokin Township.
In 1870, Sophrona Kerstetter age 12 lives with her parents in Shamokin Twp and on the very next page is found the family of Samuel Martz including son Daniel age 12. (Moreover, in 1880 Daniel is no longer living with his family)
By process of deduction, I have therefore matched Sophrona Kerstetter and her children to this Daniel Martz based on geography and age coincidences. I cannot explain why Daniel's wife's name appears to be Alvaretta in 1880.
It can also be concluded then that Daniel died between 1895 and 1900.
So I believe the death record of Daniel B Mertz d.14 Jan 1899 age 40y matches this man exactly.

There is a photo posted on the North'd Co Genweb site of the Kerstetter family which makes mention that Sophrona Kerstetter Martz and her two sons Robert and Arthur are present in the photo. She is the wife of and they the sons of Daniel Martz. From Census, Robert was born in Apr 1881 and Arthur about 1895.
