We know her as a daughter of Jesse Carroll from his estate papers wherein she is named at some point Mary wife of John Smith. She may have been the older child as in 1828 there is a division of lands between her brother Lewis and sister Priscilla and it seems to indicate a previous allotment to Mary Smith now Hollingsworth.
