Deceased Name: Herbert R. Mertz
Herbert R. Mertz, a resident of Horsham for over 25 years, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at the Artman Lutheran Home in Ambler. He was 80.
Herbert was the husband of the late Ruth T. Mertz.
Born in Milton, Pa., he was a son of the late George and Marion Mertz. Herbert was a 1949 graduate of Milton High School.
He was a chef by trade and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
Herbert served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Commander with the U.S. Air Force after serving for eight and a half years.
Herbert is survived by a brother, Harold and his wife, Mary; sisters-in-law, Edythe and Catherine Mertz; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Charles.
Interment will be in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

Deceased Name: Ruth T. Mertz of Horsham passed away suddenly, Friday, June 4, 2010. She was 76.
Born in Nanticoke, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Gomer and Ellen Thomas.
Ruth worked as a payroll manager for many years with Decision Data and the Devereux Foundation. She enjoyed gardening and reading.
Ruth will be sadly missed by her husband, Herbert; nephews Tom Hatton (Sharon) and John Markewicz (Cora Jane); nieces Vivian Jackle, Andrea MacDonnell (Ed), Cathy Elmy (Jack) and Mary Lou Georgia; and many great nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
