Parent-Proof notes for George Philip Hummel
Jerg Philip, son of Hanes Jacob and A Maria Hummel was baptized 28 Oct 1724 in Ebingen, Germany.
The Moselem Church records note the marriage of Philip Hummel, son of Jacob, to Barbara Lebin (or Sebin or Seb) in 1749. This has to be the Philip Hummel who arrived in 1743 with Hannes Jacob.
I have always been aware of this discrepancy that seemed to suggest Joseph Meiser may have been wrong saying the father was Johannes but did not consider it conclusive. Now I find it to be full confirmation of what I have come to believe after discovering the Ebingen, Germany family of Jacob Hummel and Anna Maria Stretch who baptized son Jerg Philip 28 Oct 1724.
George Philip was the oldest son of this couple and thus would have been 19 when the family arrived America, the second oldest being Jacob who was only 14.

Children Names notes for Maria Barbara (Spouse 1)
In a petition to the Orphan's Court dated 12 Aug 1763, Jacob Hummel (probably Philip's brother) sought guardians for Jacob, Michael, John Philip and Mary Elizabeth, all minor children of Philip deceased. All four of these children -- and no others -- were baptized by Philip and Barbara at Moselem. Since he married in 1749, all his children would have been minors at the time of his death, so this is certainly a complete list.
This petition negates the suggestion in one of the Meiser chapters on the Hummel family that George Adam who settled in Middlecreek Township was the son of George Philip. He clearly wasn’t.
