Parent-Proof notes for Frederick Merritt
On 6 Feb 1793, there was recorded a deed of gift from Robert Merritt Sr. to Frederick Merriit, his son, of 150 acres on the east side of Six Runs, between the head of Hobbys Branch and the head of the marsh prong of Cow Whiffle. The land was part of a patent originally granted Robert in 1774.
Research notes for Frederick Merritt
Frederick is not listed by the DAR but I think he should be, just no one has applied in his name. But if you were a descendant of Frederick and wished to join the DAR, to me there is no better ancestor for you to list than Robert Merritt. He and his six sons joined the fight together as best I can tell. Now that was a family that believed in the fight.
