Research notes for Johannes Hummel
A bond for the administration of the estate of John Hummel (Rev soldier) was filed by George Hummel, brother, Jacob Boyer and Jacob Reeser on 29 Feb 1792. Either John or George, not sure, perhaps both, was of Richmond Twp.

THE SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP HUMMELS
Meiser says that Eve Hummel, daughter of Johannes, married Peter Haas and moved to Shamokin Township and this can be verified by Census.
Meiser makes note of two Hummel men who also moved to Shamokin Township but in neither case does he know who their parents were. The two men were: John George who married Christiana and Frederick who married Eva Magdalena Heffner (sister of our ancestor Maria Elizabeth). A fair amount is known about Frederick because he applied for a Revolutionary War pension.
Meiser suggests that Frederick may have had some relationship to Eve (Hummel) Haas and/or John George Hummel -- but at the same time expresses doubt about that since Frederick did not call upon either of them to support his war service pension application. But I don’t see that as an absolute indication they were not his siblings.
I have made both Frederick and John George sons of Johannes Hummel and brothers of Eve. We know they all originated in the same area of Berks County where this whole line came from and their appearance in Shamokin Township just ties them all together, I think.
John George and Christiana did not have any children, so the large number of persons named Hummel living in Shamokin Township by the mid-1800’s were descendants of Frederick, through one of his five sons: Solomon, Jacob, Samuel, Abraham and Valentine.
