Research notes for Conrad Repp
A descendant of Conrad and Eva Catharina named Glenn Repp sent me this many years ago. “Oakey: Thanks for your note and the info. Re: the daughter of Johann Heinrich and Anna Maria Roseman named Eva Catherine. I'm afraid the marriage to my Conrad Repp is somewhat speculation, because I have found no documentation. So for now, I still carry that marriage with a question mark. Conrad's wife's name was "Eva Catherine". They were raised in the same church. But that's quite common. She died in Pottsville, Schuylkill Co. At the time she died, she and Conrad were worshipping in what was called Pineswamp Church (and also called Repp's church). Her death is listed in that church's record book. Other of Conrad's kin also worshipped there. It was Lutheran. I assume there was a church cemetery, but no real evidence of that. Unfortunately all trace of the church is gone and if there was a cemetery it is also gone. The church did not exist for too many years. I have researched coal field surveys around Pottsville and found evidence that might point to the church location, but people I have talked to around the Schuylkill Historical Soc (and others) can't recall the location.

Conrad served in the Rev War and so I am an SAR thru him. I have no clear evidence of his death date or location. I do know that some of his sons (including my ancestor Peter) and perhaps the widower Conrad himself relocated to Medina Co, OH in ca 1829. Casper Repp was my immigrant and he came to America from Dauernheim, Hessen (near Frankfurt) in Sep 1737 on the St. Andrew Galley. Well, once again, thanks.”

In a previous message he had said: “My ancestor, Casper Repp, was a contemporary of Johann Heinrich Mertz at Mertz (Christ) Church in Rockland Twp. Casper was a sponsor at the baptism of Maria Catherine Mertz. Casper and Herr Mertz had land adjoining each other and the church. Eva Catherine died in Schuylkill Co, near Pottsville, PA on 18 May 1824 and was buried at the Pineswamp (Repp's) Church (now disappeared). Glenn Repp”
