Research notes for Joseph (Spouse 1)
Sarah Hopewell was christened 16 Apr 1739 at 1st Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia daughter of Joseph.
In a strange LDS film called Ancestral Proofs and Probabilities, I found a marriage citation of Joseph Hopewell and Catherine DuBois bef 13 Feb 1707 based apparently on some Phila OC records dated 1716-1735. Does this make any sense? PWH says he married Sarah Briggs in early 1733 and she died soon thereafter from childbirth complications and then Joseph married Catherine 25 Jun 1737.

Paul Hopewell says that Nathaniel and his brother Joseph married sisters Elizabeth and Sarah Briggs, respectively. The 1733 marriage of Joseph and Sarah was recorded in the Haddonfield (Quaker) Monthly Meeting from which they later transferred to the Philadelphia Monthly Meeting.
