John Eric Schraft wrote me about “Charles Kline Mertz born August 1, 1860 and died August 12, 1941.  He is my great-great-grandfather. He married Dorinda Fred Fredrick.  They had a daughter named Mary Elsie Mertz.  She was born December 24, 1894 in Trexlertown, PA.  Her obituary said: ‘Reading -- Mrs. Mary E. Derr, wife of George H. Derr of Temple R. 2, died Sunday in Reading Hospital. She was 65. Born in Topton, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Dorinda (Fredrick) Mertz.’”
