John Rarick has a place in our (very) extended family tree in addition to his having married Elizabeth Hassinger. His grandmother was Maria Catharina Mertz who married Conrad Rarick. Maria Catharina was the daughter of John Henry Mertz of Rockland Township, Berks County -- founder of Mertz Church.

The AWT of Thomas Carlson cites a release filed 20 Jan 1837 in Buffalo, NY whereby John Rearick, guardian of Jacob, Samuel and Polly Rearick minor children of the late Elizabeth (Hassinger) Rearick a daughter of Jacob Hassinger of Union County, PA deceased says he has been duly paid by Conrad Hassinger -- the surviving Executor of the will of Jacob Hassinger.
