Parent-Proof notes for John Irwin Ulp
John Irin (not my typo) Ulp’s DC says he was born 1838 and died 6 Mar 1910 in Northumberland and his parents were John Ulp and Harriett Eckert.
This confirms the idea I always had that he was born just after his father died but that his mother was an Eckert was new information.
The confusing thing is that in 1850, John Irwin age 11 is living with Levi Eckert age 35 and wife Sarah age 37 and these Eckert children: Clara age 15, Emma 13, Millard 8, Malissa 4 and Winfield Scott 2. I thought perhaps Sarah was his mother and she had married second Levi Eckert but I’m not sure I like that scenario anymore.
We know that Levi’s oldest children born earlier than John Irwin Ulp were the daughters of Harriett. And I have come to consider the possibility that Harriet, mother of several of Levi Eckert’s children was the same person as Harriett Eckert, the mother of John Irwin Ulp.

Census History notes for John Irwin Ulp
1860. John lives with George and Elsie (Ulp) Eckert, Elsie being his aunt. Ancestry has attached the Eckert surname to him, but that clearly is an error.
1900. Says he was born in May 1838.
I need someplace to talk about Levi Eckert, so I’ll put it here. He’s tied into the Eckert/Ulp family for sure. He and wife Mary buy lot #172 from the family in 1865.
In 1860, he is 46, wife Mary 47. In 1850, he is 39 and wife Sarah 37. John Ulp 11 lives with them.
He was buried 8/3/1875 at Riverview. There is a DC for Philip W B Eckert b.1850 died 1 Aug 1911 in Reading son of Levi and Sarah Ulp Eckert.
