Johannes is believed to have come to America with his father.

In about 1770, Johannes, youngest brother of Andreas and Peter, moved to Dauphin County, PA and was the progenitor of the large Gerberich family of that place. This was about the time that the third brother, Peter, along with his Uncle Michael, moved to York County, PA. Peter had a large family who continued to live in that place. Michael had a smaller family who appear to have sometime later moved to Baltimore County.
