Meiser’s Martz/Mertz observed the possibility that William was a son of William and Elizabeth based on the 1850 Census. William was 17, his mother 55 so the idea that she had a son at age 38 does not seem unreasonable to me and seems the most likely explanation. I designate him P6a1d.

I think by 1860 he was living with John Martz, his uncle I believe, in Peoria. His brother Jacob was also present in that household. William stayed in Peoria, Jacob moved on.
