William was mentioned in his father’s will. Geography and his age confirm he was Jacob’s son. He is designated H2a3.

William was listed in both the 1840 and 1850 Census, he lived in Allegheny Township, Somerset County.

William is not on find-a-grave. But he died in 1854, that brief period of just a few years when death records were being kept in most Pennsylvania counties. His death record says he was born abt 1809 and died 30 Sep 1854, that he was the son of Jacob and Magdalena (Tuchman) Martz and that his wife was May Ann Boyer.

From the 1850 Census, William had two sons: H2a3a Herman born 1833 and H2a3b Samson born 1848.

Here is a summary of the 1865 petition to the Somerset County Orphans Court of Mary Ann Martz, widow of William Martz deceased, and daughter and heir at law of Benjamin Boyer late of Northampton Township deceased. The said Benjamin Boyer died on or about 18 June 1865, intestate, seized of a tract of land situate in Northampton adjoining lands of Henry Bittner, William Martz, Christian Warner and Fredrick Eugelka containing two hundred and thirty acres more or less. Surviving him a widow, Elizabeth Boyer, and seven children to wit: your petitioner, Theresa Sill intermarried with Jonas Sill of Bloomington, IL, Elizabeth, intermarried with Francis Fantz, of Bloomington, IL, Harriet, now deceased who was intermarried with Henry Wilkey (leaving issue Eliza Catharine Wilkey, Alvin E. Wilkey, and Benjamin Wilkey), Roseann intermarried with William Dively, Susanna intermarried with George Glauss and Caroline intermarried with Michael Hayman.
