We know Jacob as Henry’s son from his presence in his father’s household in the 1850 and 1860 Census. He is designated H1b4a.
He is on find-a-grave, linked to Henry, but buried in Van Buren County, Michigan. Knowing that, I was able to find him in the 1900 Census in that place and then, knowing the names of his wife and children, I could trace back and find him in earlier Censuses.
In 1880, he was in Whitley County, Indiana. I cannot find him anywhere in 1870.
