Parent-Proof notes for Harriett Wachter
An article in The News (a Frederick, MD newspaper) dated 1 Dec 1906 detailed the will of Mrs. Harriett S Martz. Her home farm to son Charles C Martz, he then to pay the estate $7250. She specifically singled out her daughter Caroline Houck for $250 and another $250 for the five children of her deceased daughter Marietta Wachter. All the rest and residue to her eight children: Lewis, Wilson N, Annie Bentz, Julia Stull, David, Albert Theodore, George and Charles C.

I don’t understand why Caroline Houck was not listed as one of her eight children. And daughter Annie Bentz was said elsewhere to have been Annie V wife of Randolph Whitmore.
Birth, Parent-Proof, Designation notes for David S (Spouse 1)
The Frederick County history book says that David S Martz was the father of George S and son of Major George Martz. I have no reason to disagree. He is designated H5a1.

The county history further says he was born in 1813 and died suddenly 5 Dec 1860. Not much biography is given for him other than that he took over his father’s farm and was a prosperous farmer.
Relocated and Census Tracking notes for David S (Spouse 1)
David S lived his life in Frederick County.
Death and Find-a-Grave notes for David S (Spouse 1)
David is on find-a-grave. Twice. At Bethel Cemetery and at Mt Olivet.

The Mt Olivet memorial is for David Schaeffer Martz (15 Feb 1814-15 Dec 1860). A photo of a tombstone is there, it is unreadable, but clearly seems to be a different side of the tombstone he shares with his wife. Her side is readable. Besides his wife, he is linked to his parents and several children.

The other is David S Martz (1815-5 Dec 1869) at Bethel Cemetery. He is not linked to any relatives.

I found a county history which says he was born in 1813 and died on either 5 Dec 1860 or 15 Dec 1860. And there is a birth record for him on the LDS file: Maryland Church Records 1668-1995. It gives the 15 Feb 1814 date but it is not clear if that is a birth or baptism date.

I have gone with the dates from Mt Olivet.
