Parent-Proof notes for Abraham H Mertz (J2a5)
We know Abraham from the land partition, which noted he was of Boone County, Iowa. Indeed, he was listed there by the time of the 1870 Census and is buried there. He is designated J2a5.
Relocated and Census Tracking notes for Abraham H Mertz (J2a5)
An examination of the birthplaces of his children in the 1870 Census, Uriah age 5 and all his older children were born in Pennsylvania, Mary M age 1 in Iowa, we can determine he moved to Iowa in about 1867 or 1868. I cannot find Abraham, probably single, in the 1860 Census.
Death and Find-a-Grave notes for Abraham H Mertz (J2a5)
Abraham is on find-a-grave. The Mertz spelling was retained. His wife Susanna and son Orlando are buried in the same cemetery, so I linked them all together. Orlando died as a young man in a train accident.
