Birth, Parent-Proof, Designation notes for Frederick A Martz (P1c2a)
We know Frederick as the son of Abraham from his presence in his father’s household in 1850, 1860 and 1880. In addition, his death certificate confirms it. He is designated P1c2a.
Relocated and Census Tracking notes for Frederick A Martz (P1c2a)
I cannot find Frederick in 1870, he was back with his parents in 1880 and then in 1900 he lived with his mother.
Death and Find-a-Grave notes for Frederick A Martz (P1c2a)
Frederick A was not on find-a-grave, but I found his burial listed by Joseph Meiser at Harmony (or Milton) Cemetery, so I added him. He was supposed to have been buried in Harmony Cemetery according to his death certificate.
Known Sons notes for Frederick A Martz (P1c2a)
When I first began to track Frederick, I thought he never married. His death certificate and the 1900 Census both reported him as being single. But then one day I was working on “unattached” Martzes buried in Harmony Cemetery and I came across Mary E (1845-1932) and William (1870-1905).

In 1900, William was living with his mother Mary E and his wife Gussie (who shares his tombstone). After William died in 1905, Gussie remarried Harmon Bergenstock. I was trying to track her further when I emailed “Wendy” who maintained Harmon’s find-a-grave memorial and she got back to me with a marriage record for Augusta Pfleeger and William Martz.

That led to an LDS record of their marriage and it gave the names of William’s parents as Frederick and Mary Martz. (And Augusta (Gussie) was the daughter of William and unnamed wife.)

Checking further, I found that Frederick in 1880, though living with his parents with no wife present, said he was married and in 1900 he said he was widowed. So I believe Frederick in fact briefly married Mary E, had son William and then Frederick and Mary separated soon thereafter.
