Obituary: “Shirley A. Eckman, 88, passed away May 13, 2010 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Shirley was born Aug. 27, 1921 in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Herbert W. and Pearl (Packer) Ma r t z . She was married on Apr 3, 1942 to William R. Eckman, who survives. In addition to her husband of 67 years, she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Judith Ann and Charles D. Hilbish, of Northumberland; two granddaughters and their husbands, Deborah A. (Hilbish) and Steven D. Smith, of Mount Holly, N.J., Cathy L. (Hilbish) and Michael Bogovich, of Zionsville, Ind.; one grandson and his wife, Brad A. and Alexis Hilbish, of Dillsburg; greatgrandchildren Aaron, Ryan and Kyle Smith, Morgan Fried and Brynn Hilbish. Also one brother, Paul Martz, of Sunbury, two sisters, Pearl Martz Shannon, of Harrisburg and Nancy Martz Dorman, of Sunbury. Shirley was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Martz and one sister, Jeanette Martz Snyder. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.”
