Research notes for Samuel Allen (Allen 1, page 303)
Samuel Allen came from England 6 May 1635, a freeman, and settled in Braintree. He married first Anne who died 29 Sep 1641 and second (according to a handwritten note in the original book) Margaret Lamb who was the mother of his son Joseph.
His will dated 2 Aug 1669 proved 16 Sep 1669.
There were many other Allen families in different towns of New England but the Braintree Allens were Samuel’s family.
The Vinton book cites his death “Samuel Allen d.6 mo 1669” — meaning August (a reminder of the Julian calendar in use at the time).
There is a memorial for him on find-a-grave with a rather extensive biography.
