Research notes for Rachel Thayer (Thayer 154, page 362)
The New Hampshire genealogy book identifies Rachel Thayer as the mother of Rachel Mekusett. It says nothing more about her.
But I was curious about Rachel Thayer since the Thayer family is one of the twenty or so families profiled in the Vinton book. So I found a family tree on-line (not always to be trusted) that says Rachel was the daughter of Ebenezer Thayer and that she was born 3 Apr 1699. Indeed, Rachel Thayer born 3 Apr 1699, daughter of Ebenezer, is identified in the Vinton Memorial. But there is no mention in that book of who she married.
So the dots don’t fully connect here, and I am trusting the work of the author of the family tree I found on-line, but it certainly is reasonable that Rachel born 1699 was the mother of Rachel born 1717. There were any number of Thayer men in the Braintree area in the late 1600’s having children, so there likely were multiple daughters named Rachel, so it is not impossible there is a mistaken identity here.
But I choose to want to believe the dots are correctly connected as it just makes the case of how intertwined these Braintree area families were. The names of these few families keep cropping up everywhere we look. Ebenezer Thayer was also the father of Ruth Thayer so he is a double ancestor of Priscilla Hayden Hollis and of course therefore of Jim Harley.

Research notes for Daniel (Spouse 1)
Daniel is not mentioned in the Vinton book. I only know his name because of the Hollis family write-up in the New Hampshire genealogy book. But there is a memorial for him on find-a-grave which gives a date of birth and death and also a marriage date for his marriage to Rachel Thayer. It adds that he was the son of Mordecai and Sarah (Scant) Mekusett.
