Rudolf Mertz arrived America on the ship Francis and Elizabeth 30 Aug 1743.
The Genealogy.com family tree of Harvey Wayne Rhodes says, perhaps quoting someone else, that at least 85 of the 89 adult male passengers on the Francis and Elizabeth came from an area within a 50 mile radius of an area just north of Zurich. Rudolf Mertz was one of the four that could not be associated to a particular place.
The distance from Meniken to Zurich is about 50 km.
According to the family tree of Virginia Sande, Rudolf was the son of Lawrence and he (Rudolf) settled in Rowan County, NC.
