Beryl Meehan is tracking Mary Martz who married James Covert of Milton and it would appear that Abraham Martz of Milton in the 1820 and 1830 Census was most likely her father. He was in the right place, Mary named a son Abraham Martz Covert and Abraham’s Census headcount might well include the young Mary.

In fact, a petition filed by Abraham Martz (Jr.) in 1858 named all the children of Abraham and Susannah including deceased daugher Mary Covert and her children were named in her place.

Here is what she told me about the Coverts. Their sons were William Augustus Covert 1835, Jacob Wilson Covert 1837, Abraham Martz Covert 1839 and James T Covert 1849 and daughters Elizabeth 1831 and then Mary, Catherine and Sarah. Mary died in Milton in 1858 but James remarried in 1859 to a Susan Zimmerman and James then died in Selinsgrove in 1885.

There is a PA death certificate for Marinda Covert 1833-2 Apr 1906 died Selinsgrove whose parents were James Covert and Marinda Martz.
