Parent-Proof notes for Rebecca (Spouse 1)
I can’t point to any document that provides evidence that Rebecca was Philip’s daughter but I think the logic is compelling.
I can point to documents (her children’s death certificates) that provide evidence her maiden name was Mertz.
She is buried at St Michael’s in Tilden Tonwship where we also find Philip Mertz and his daughter Catharaina. No other Mertzes are buried there or seem ever to have had anything to do with Tilden Township.
Catharine was married to George Seaman, Rebecca was married to William Seaman, George’s brother.
She was born in 1824, perhaps Philip’s youngest child, but certainly within the range of yars that Philip and Elzabeth might have had chldren. Census tick marks also are not inconsistent with Philip having the three daughters I suggest as his — Catharina and Sarah who I know were his, and Rebecca.
