We know that Andrew Mertz has a son Frederick born in Dec 1890 from the 1900 Census. He most certainly then is the man listed as Fred G Mertz age 39 living in Milton in 1930 with sons Maynard age 17 and Andrew J age 14.
You will find Maynard's and Andy's picture on the Milton Historic Downtown Walking Tour as they were both softball league officials in 1950 when Milton won the state championships. Andy was President of the league. Their association with softball is not surprising since their father's first cousin was a member of the 1907 league championship Milton baseball team.
