Parent-Proof notes for Elsie Ulp
Lot #172 in Northumberland was granted in 1818 to Alice Ulp wife of Conrad then sold in 1865 to Levi Eckert by George and Elsie Eckert and Jacob and wife Mary (Ulp, I believe) Eckert.
Meiser says in his Riverview listing that she was Elsie A Neh, 1822-1895 wife of George Eckert 1818-1881. But the name Neh does not exist anywhere in the 1850 Census. But then Meiser shows Robert B Eckert b.24 Oct 1856 as the son of George Eckert and Elsie Ulp.
A check of the 1880 Census shows George Eckert 61 with wife Elsie 57 and son Robert 23. This is clearly the family that is all buried in Riverview. Her death record lists her as the daughter of Conrad and Elsie Ulp -- with handwriting that looks very much like Neh. I am sure she was Elsie Ulp not Elsie Neh.
Here’s the exciting part. Both her parents were born in New Jersey.
Research notes for Elsie Ulp
On LDS film #961101 which has death records of North’d Co from 1893-1905, Elsie V (is it actually U?) Eckert d.11 Oct 1895 age 73 of cancer buried Riverview d/o Conrad Ulp and Elsie Ulp -- the writing makes those names look amazingly like Neh.
My Comments notes for George (Spouse 1)
Levi Eckert figures very prominently in the story of Lot #172. But who was he? In 1850, he was 39 with wife Sarah and John Ulp age 11 (John Irwin Ulp) lived with them. In 1860 he was 46 and wife Mary 47. And I think I have that he died and was buried at Riverview 3 Aug 1875. Was he George’s brother?
