Research notes for Jacob (Spouse 1)
Jacob Walter was a prominent man in the Middleburg area pre-1790. He was quite involved in the founding of Hassinger’s Church and the sense I get from the Gift, Royer book is that the church might better have been named Walter’s Church.

The Gift, Royer book names his children and the count is 10 sons and two daughters: David m. Susan Ehrhart, John m. Losena Kern, Joseph m. Christina Kern, Philip m. Miss Bowersox, Henry m. Miss Mertz, Jeremiah m. Pearl Price, Christian m. Miss Swartz, Jacob Jr. m. Miss Lawyer, Michael m. Miss Varick, Elizabeth m. Daniel Hassinger Mary m. Mr. Stroub and Conrad.

In the 1790 Census, the headcount for Jacob is 10 males (incuding himself) and David Walter is a neighbor and I would guess son as well. The count is 10 sons.

In the 1800 Census, we find, in Penns Township, these men named Walter: Jacob, Conrad, Henry, David, Frederick, John, Peter and Philip. All are age 26-44 except Jacob who is 45+ and Peter who is 16-25. That seems like it is Jacob and 7 of his sons, but Jacob still has 5 younger males living with him including one who is age under 10.

And in 1810, we have in Centre Township: Christian 26-44, Conrad 26-44, David 45+, Henry 26-44, Jacob 45+, Jeremiah 26-44, John 45+, Joseph 26-45 , Michael 26-45, Peter 26-45 and Philip 45+ and in Penns Twp Conrad 45+ and Frederick 16-26.
