Research notes for John Vinton (Vinton 3, page 14)
John Vinton resided in Malden at the time of his marriage and continued to live there nearly 20 years after. But before that he lived in Lynn.

He was a worker in iron, a foreman, which gives rise to the speculation he may have been employed at the Lynn Iron Works which were in that part of Lynn now in Saugus, a town lying between Lynn and Malden.

In August 1695, a conveyance of several parcels of land in Woburn to John Vinton is the earliest conveyance of land ever found for anyone named Vinton. The deed marks a most important epoch in the history of the Vinton family, viz. the removal of the family to Woburn in 1795. Previous to this date. there is some dimness and obscurity; but after this all is plain and clear.

John Vinton resided in Woburn until his death in 1727. However, he seems also to have been active in buying and selling land in Braintree where his son Thomas, in 1720, bought the Braintree Iron Works.
